CYA Artistic Director, Alan Rafferty will be joined by CCM colleagues Catharine Lees, Tim Lees, Mark Ostoich and Sandra Rivers and CYA Faculty members Danielle Belen and Sibbi Bernhardsson to open the 10th Annual Cincinnati Young Artists Chamber Music Festival.

Where do composers get their inspiration?  This program explores 4 diverse works by 4 composers who received their inspiration from very different people.  Johan Halvorsen was a Norwegian violinist who took a Passacaglia by Handel and made it into one of the most popular string duos in the repertoire today filled with beauty and virtuosity.  Mozart met the virtuoso oboist Ramm and immediately composed the F Major Quartet, a staple of the Oboe repertoire.  Krystof Maratka wrote his Poems for violin and cello which “offers a very personal musical transcription of words and verses.” Johannes Brahms wrote of his love for Clara Schumann after completing the C Minor Piano Quartet.

Don’t miss this inspirational concert!
